About Del Hegland

Del was born in Stockholm, Sweden at the beginning of the Cold War.  Since then he lived in several European countries, South Africa and Australia. His extensive business experience comes from owning Del’s Camera, Inc. for 27 years and studying challenges of business ownership, including exit strategies and retirement planning as a current agent with New York Life. He is a member of the Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce (GVCC), Santa Barbara Contractors Assoc. (SBCA) and SCORE.  He recently became the third male member of NAWBO's Santa Barbara chapter (National Association of Business Owners).

He feels financial education is critical for children, to help prepare them for life, for families and business owners to facilitate survival and prosperity.  As an SBCA board member he helped set up the Construction Academy with City College (SBCC) in 2007. He is working with SBCC and GVCC to create a series of “Business Survival” seminars for local business owners.

Del is a happy father of three adult children, is a grandfather, performed in some 20 musicals and is a resident of the Santa Barbara area since 1971.
